Presidential Guest Lecture: Prof. Tomas Epeldegui


Date of birth: May 2, 1943

Prof. Epeldegui graduated from University Complutense of Madrid and was awarded his PhD in Autonomous University of Madrid.

He underwent his orthopaedic training in Hospital La Paz in Madrid and continued as a consultant in this unit until 1998, when he was appointed Head of the department of Paediatric Orthopaedic in Niño Jesus Hospital in Madrid.
During his career he educated the new generation of paediatric orthopaedic surgeons who are now leading the specialty in Spain.
He is a recognized member of many societies and is a past president of EPOS.

He authored many books and multiple papers.

Since 2015, when he retired, he devoted his time to create a Non-profit organization (COEMS) that offers pediatric orthopaedic services to areas of Camerun that had no basic medical services.

Prof Epeldegui and his team managed to perform more than 2000 procedures during the last years, and therefore have been able to maintain the high standard services even during the pandemic.
